IERC, Bradford
NK Architects were approached to develop and design an Education and Resource Centre that would house classrooms, libraries and IT rooms, with ancillary accommodation, including canteen and toilet facilities; affiliated to the Mosque on the adjacent site; for the local Muslim community in Bradford, West Yorkshire.
Our brief was to prepare design proposals for the client so that they can present these to the local council, enabling them to acquire the site for their their needs. Due to a deadline for the tender submission to the council, the client approached us with only 3 weeks to develop the scheme. Our proposals were well received by the council, and subsequently successful in securing the site for the client
After acquiring the site, the client shelved the projects in order to raise funds, and once the funds were raised, the client choose the safe route and implemented a much more banal design.
